ACEDS names top Litigation Support professional, Michael Quartararo, to Advisory Board
MIAMI (Oct. 21, 2010) In further recognition of the important role litigation support professionals play in electronic discovery issues and management in litigation and dispute resolution of all types, the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists today announced the appointment of Michael I. Quartararo, to its Advisory Board.
As manager of litigation support in the New York office of the international law firm, Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, Mr. Quartararo has a long and distinguished career in the legal field in handling and managing complex e-discovery operations involving multiple parties and multiple lawyers. With Stroock since 2008, Mr. Quartararo leads a staff that provides consulting, litigation support and technology services to about 325 attorneys in the firm’s New York, Miami and Los Angeles offices.
Mr. Quartararo is one of the principal authors of Stroock’s best practices guidelines on electronic discovery, document review and production, and has developed protocols and forms for the identification, preservation, collection and retention of electronically stored information. He spearheaded development of the attorney and paralegal training program at Stroock. He began his career as a paralegal in New York City working in general litigation, white collar, antitrust and intellectual property cases.
Prior to Stroock, Mr. Quartararo worked for 10 years in the very early days of e-discovery in the litigation and legal technology departments in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. On the cutting edge of electronic discovery and legal project management, he became a coordinator of projects involving large-scale class action and securities litigation, computer forensics, e-discovery and trial preparedness.
"Mike is a leading litigation support specialist in United States and international litigation, and brings stellar legal and technology experience from his long experience at two AmLaw 200 firms," said Gregory Calpakis, Executive Director of ACEDS.
"Mike’s guidance and expertise in litigation support and legal technology will help ACEDS expand its knowledge of the many challenges that e-discovery litigation support professionals face and enrich the training programs it offers to litigation support professionals throughout the world," Calpakis added.
Mr. Quartararo is a member of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), the East Coast Association of Litigation Support Managers (ECALSM) and the Project Management Institute. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York, and studied law at the University of London.
