January 31, 2022 – DALLAS, TX – The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), the world’s leading organization for training and certification in e-discovery and part of The BARBRI Global group of legal education companies, announced today the launch of a new complimentary program that introduces the fundamentals of e-discovery to legal professionals at all levels.

The Introduction to E-Discovery course is a complimentary thirty-minute program designed to introduce anyone new to e-discovery to fundamental knowledge and skills relating to the e-discovery project lifecycle. Among the topics covered in the lecture-format course are:

  • The legal framework for the discovery process;
  • Information Governance as a foundation for e-discovery;
  • The obligation to identify, preserve, and properly collect ESI;
  • Processing and filtering ESI;
  • Tools and methods for document review; and
  • Producing ESI to other parties

Lawyers, paralegals, litigation support and legal operations professionals, or anyone interested in a career in, or better understanding of e-discovery should enroll in this course. The Introduction to E-Discovery course is an independent self-study program and no prior experience or knowledge of e-discovery is required.

“We are extremely enthusiastic about introducing this complimentary micro-course program to the legal community,” said Mike Quartararo, president of ACEDS. “Meaningful conversations in recent months have involved questions about the next generation of e-discovery professionals, and while we are actively training professionals at law firms, within corporate legal, the government, and academia, there remains a new generation of legal professionals out there who could benefit from this introductory material and potentially use it to springboard into a rewarding career in e-discovery.”
