What is your name and role?

Mollie Nichols, CEO of Redgrave Data.

What first sparked your interest in technology?

As a special assistant to the Texas attorney general around the turn of the century, I was tasked with finding relevant documents in a pharmaceutical industry investigation into their pricing practices. The documents had been produced electronically. In the year 2000, document review tools were not as robust as they are today, so I had my work cut out for me. I found an analytics tool to assist. I drafted a synthetic “smoking gun” document and fed it into the analytics engine. The tool ranked the documents on how close they were to the document that I had drafted. With that, I found one smoking gun after another. This was my “a-ha” moment when I decided to focus my career on incorporating technology into the practice of law, which led to the development of innovative e-discovery programs and, ultimately, the founding of Redgrave Data.
