Anthropic is pushing deeper into the legal market, partnering with law firms and releasing more legal-specific tools on its AI chatbot and LLM Claude. Yet far from just becoming another legal tech provider, the AI developer’s expansion may lead to a market shift.
Legal tech providers and users say there is a growing need for fewer legal tech interfaces and systems as options on the market proliferate. Such consolidation can come in the form of a single ecosystem that allows access to legal tech tools from various providers—a concept Anthropic’s Claude may be able to make into a reality.
Anthropic made several announcements Tuesday that play into this possibility, including integrating Claude with over 20 legal tech companies including Harvey, Thomson Reuters and Relativity, among others. Claude is also offering 12 practice areas-specific plugins for legal professionals.
