Compliance-focused professionals see artificial intelligence governance and oversight becoming the top skills of their profession within the next three years, according to AI-powered governance, risk and compliance software provider Diligent’s Global State of Legal Entity Compliance 2026 report released May 29.

The report found that a majority of survey participants, 64% of the 309 company secretaries, general counsel, heads of legal operations and senior in-house counsel surveyed ranked AI governance and oversight as a skill that will be most critical to their roles over the next three years.
