Law schools are building out their curricula to include courses on legal technology, covering topics like e-discovery and generative artificial intelligence. At the same time, the market for legal tech companies is also expanding.
Yet, despite the growth of the legal technology industry, law schools do not seem to be steering students to pursue careers in the space. According to experts in the industry, that’s not likely to change any time soon.
“That’s been a longtime criticism of law schools: that they don’t actually do much to prepare you for the practice of law, and unfortunately that’s not changing even as technology is changing,” Sarah Johansson, the head of legal product at legal tech startup Theo AI, told Legaltech News.
Johansson joined the AI litigation prediction startup in July after working at London law firm Rosling King as a paralegal.
