Legal professionals are adopting generative AI five times faster than cloud software, and many believe it will soon become the standard in e-discovery technology, according to Everlaw’s 2024 Ediscovery Innovation Report.
The report is based on a survey of 267 legal professionals, consisting of paralegals, IT, attorneys, associates, partners, among others, conducted in May and June of this year.
The e-discovery provider found that, within the past two years, 34% of surveyed legal professionals adopted generative AI. By comparison, it took roughly 10 years for legal professionals to adopt cloud-based e-discovery software to the same extent.
Over the past year, generative AI has become more widely considered. The report noted that, while 60% of surveyed legal professionals said they did not plan to use generative AI in 2023, that dropped to 10% in 2024.
