A new certification and training program looks to provide legal professionals the opportunity to acquire an e-discovery edge without having to go too in-depth with the topic.

The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), an e-discovery education organization, announced it’s adding an 11-module online course to its repertoire of education programs. The “eDAdv certificate” achieved at the end of the five-hour program is designed for individuals and teams who have a basic knowledge of e-discovery principles and are looking to hone their skills in more specialized areas like project management and budgetary economics.

“This is ideal for teams that are not just in the weeds on e-discovery,” said president of ACEDS Mike Quartararo. “A corporate legal department—[the course] is ideal for them. So when the organization finds themselves in a legal dispute, they have the understanding of how to respond to the steps of e-discovery.”

“This program is great for those who don’t have the time and don’t need the [flagship] certification, but still want career amplification,” added ACEDS director of marketing Katie Saylor. “It gives you the advance skills to be proficient without the certification.”
