June 6, 2023 – DALLAS, TX – The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), the world’s leading organization for training and certification in e-discovery and part of The BARBRI Global group of legal education companies, today announced a strategic partnership with Robert B. Fried, a noted expert in digital forensics, a licensed private investigator, and Chief Content Creator at Forensics By Fried to deliver educational programming to the e-discovery community.

This summer, ACEDS and Fried, who is also Senior Vice President and Global Head of Forensics and Investigation at Sandline, are collaborating to release a micro course on Data Forensics and the Collection of ESI. This course is part of a broader offering of micro courses that ACEDS will soon release.

“Properly collecting ESI related to a legal matter is arguably the most important component of an e-discovery project,” said Mike Quartararo, president of ACEDS. “If you do not get the collection piece right, there’s a good chance you may have difficulties downstream in processing, review and production,” he added. “By offering this micro course focused on collecting ESI, as well as other e-discovery micro courses, our goal is to provide meaningful content that leads to successful outcomes.”

“Technology is continually evolving, and it is important that we all stay ahead of the curve, when it comes to addressing digital-based evidence that may be relevant to litigation or an investigation,” said Fried. “My course addresses modern data sources that are now frequently encountered, so that they can be identified, preserved, and collected in a defensible and efficient manner,” he stated. “I am excited to be partnering with ACEDS, the leader in legal education and training, to share my trusted digital forensics content with its global membership.”

ACEDS micro courses will be available this summer. They are intended for lawyers, paralegals, litigation support and legal operations professionals. There are no prerequisites and all programs are self-paced and available online. Participants completing a micro course with ACEDS will receive a digital badge signifying their completion of each program.
