April 26, 2022 – San Diego, CA and Dallas, TX—The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), the world’s leading organization for training and certification in e-discovery and part of The BARBRI Group, today launched the San Diego Chapter expanding its growing e-discovery educational and training network in the United States.

The ACEDS San Diego Chapter is the third ACEDS chapter to form in California and will offer educational programming, social networking events, and a local forum for the exchange of ideas, guidance, and best practices in e-discovery. Many of the San Diego chapter board members currently hold the Certified E-Discovery Specialists (CEDS) credential or are aspiring to earn the CEDS qualification.

The following experts will serve as the first volunteer board for the ACEDS San Diego Chapter:

  • President: Christine Stansall, Practice Technology Project Manager, Latham & Watkins
  • Vice President & Director of Education: June Hunter, Technical Enablement Sr. Specialist, DISCO
  • Secretary: Candice Miller, Client Development Specialist, Contact Discovery Services
  • Director of Marketing: Martie Meyer, eDiscovery Paralegal, Lorber Greenfield & Polito, LLC
  • Director of Membership: Maya T. Carlin, Paralegal
  • Director at Large: Kate Oliver, Compliance Specialist, EDF Renewables North America
  • Director at Large: Ross Mecham, eDiscovery Attorney, Cooley LLP
  • Director at Large: Christi McGowan, Director of Legal Operations, Exterro

The board of volunteer officers are currently developing the Chapter’s bylaws and coordinating a chapter launch event.

“There was strong interest for a few years in forming a San Diego chapter where members could connect and collaborate locally. With the increase of ACEDS members in Southern California this comes at the perfect time. Our local chapters make ACEDS stronger and provide members with an opportunity to network locally and strengthen relationships with professionals in the area,” said Maribel Rivera, VP, Strategy and Client Engagement of ACEDS. “I encourage e-discovery and information governance professionals and paralegals in the area to get more involved in the chapter.”

The San Diego chapter will represent ACEDS at the 2022 Women in eDiscovery Conference taking place at Paradise Point Hotel and Spa in San Diego from May 2nd to May 4th. ACEDS Members are eligible to receive a 10% discount on registration with code APP2022.

In addition, the chapter is collaborating with the San Diego Paralegals Association and the Los Angeles Paralegal Association to host an e-discovery conference this coming August. Details will be released later this quarter.
